Life is ever-evolving. Just when I think I’ve got things figured out, a new season rolls in and shakes everything up. Sound familiar? That’s the beauty of life. We get to rediscover who we are, over and over again. For me, this blog started as a personal diary, a space to reflect and connect with others going through similar experiences. But it’s turned into so much more. It’s become my new purpose, a place where rediscovering purpose is at the heart of what I do. I share my experiences, my moments of triumph, and those “well, that didn’t go as planned” moments. I hope that by sharing my journey, you see reflections of your own path and find comfort in knowing we’re all figuring it out together.

For years, I believed my purpose was to be a good mom, a supportive aunt, and a kind person. Those roles brought me joy (and challenges) beyond words. But somewhere along the way, this blog introduced a new purpose into my life, one I hadn’t anticipated. What began as a space to jot down my thoughts and connect with others has blossomed into a community where rediscovering purpose is a shared journey. We celebrate the highs, embrace the lows, and navigate everything in between.

If you’re still searching for your purpose, please know it’s okay. Sometimes, purpose finds you when you least expect it. It’s not a single answer to figure out; it’s something that unfolds naturally, surprising us with new layers as we grow.

“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.”
Pablo Picasso

Purpose as a Journey, not a Destination

Purpose rarely arrives all at once, neatly gift-wrapped. I think of it more like a road trip, full of unexpected twists, a few bumps, and “wrong turns” that somehow lead you to where you’re meant to be. At least, that’s what I tell myself on the tough days! Have you ever felt that way too—like your dreams and plans keep evolving as you do?

When I was young, I wanted to be a journalist, a writer, maybe even Oprah—LOL! But life had other plans. I became a mom at 18, and while my journey shifted, it brought meaning I wouldn’t trade for anything. When my son left home, I found myself revisiting those early dreams and discovering a new season of purpose. I share more about that part of my story in Silence of the Empty Nesting: Self-Discovery After the Kids Leave, where I reflect on what it means to reconnect with ourselves after major life changes.

Looking back, I see how those early dreams still guided me here, helping me create this space to connect and share.

Something to Think About: Take a moment to reflect on your own “younger you” dreams. What parts of those still hold a spark for you? This isn’t about trying to rewind time; it’s about honoring the paths that brought us to where we are today.

Embracing Life’s Changing Seasons

Rediscovering purpose means accepting that life moves in seasons. Each season has its own rhythm: some focus on family, others on career, and some are all about rediscovering who you are when no one else is watching. Fighting these changes is exhausting, trust me—I’ve been there. But learning to embrace your current season brings so much relief.

I spent years moving through different seasons—raising my son, supporting family members, and chasing career goals. I remember a specific season when everything felt like it was in limbo after the kids left home. I didn’t know who I was without the daily routines of motherhood. That’s when I found myself rediscovering purpose in ways I hadn’t anticipated. The quiet mornings that once felt lonely became cherished moments of self-reflection, where I realized that this season was about me for a change.

Moment of Thought: Nature has seasons for blooming, resting, and even for growth that’s quiet and unseen. It’s okay to have seasons like that too.

Thought Starter: Try doing a “seasonal audit.” Look at the big pieces of your life. This can be self-care, relationships, goals—and ask yourself, What season am I in right now? Instead of chasing something that doesn’t fit anymore, let yourself settle into the season you’re actually in. Savor it. I know I missed out on enjoying parts of my life because I was always focused on what’s next instead of being fully present.

Curious Question: “What season am I in with my family, my career, and myself? What does this season invite me to focus on?”

Rediscovering Purpose in Everyday Joys

I’ve learned that purpose doesn’t always make a grand entrance. More often, it’s tucked into the little things that make your heart smile: a cozy Sunday morning, a walk in the park, or a chat with a friend that turns into a therapy session. And here’s the twist: purpose can be found in your sense of style—the way you rock that bold outfit, your humor that lights up a room, or your creative talents, from painting to whipping up a perfect recipe. These aren’t just hobbies; they’re hints of what truly fills your life with meaning.

Something to Mull Over: “What moments in my day make me feel most like myself? How can I invite more of these into my life?”

Purpose isn’t something you chase—it shows up when you’re fully present. So stay in the moment, girl—the magic is in those small joys and the unique ways you express yourself.

Crafting a Purpose Statement for Right Now

Purpose isn’t something we have to figure out once and for all. It can grow and change, just like we do. I find it helpful to think of a purpose statement as a guide for this season of life. Take a moment to think about what feels most important to you right now. Whether it’s community, creativity, peace, or joy, try crafting a purpose statement that reflects what you’re embracing today.

Example Purpose Statement: “My purpose in this season is to create, nurture, and embrace life with an open heart and curious mind.”

Curious Question: “What is my heart calling me to focus on in this season? How can I create a purpose statement that aligns with that?”

A Little Something to Remember

Life is ever-evolving, and that’s the good news. When we stop trying to control every twist and turn, we discover that purpose isn’t a finish line to cross. It’s a relationship with yourself that keeps deepening. Here’s to embracing the unknown, finding your rhythm, and rediscovering what lights you up, again and again.

  • Purpose is Fluid: It’s allowed to change as you do. What felt meaningful in one chapter of your life may shift as you grow.
  • Embrace the Season You’re In: Enjoy where you are now, even as you move toward what’s next. Don’t rush; savor each moment as you go.
  • Dreams Can Evolve: Childhood aspirations don’t have to disappear; they transform and shape who you become.
  • Purpose in Connection: Purpose deepens through shared moments and community.
  • Let Curiosity Be Your Guide: The best discoveries often come from exploring without an agenda.
  • Reflecting Fuels Growth: Looking back on how far you’ve come isn’t about staying in the past. Honor your progress and use that to guide your next steps.
  • Small Wins: Embrace simple moments that make you feel alive.
